Meet the Team:
Jonathan Brown, Web Developer
Following the introduction of our ‘Meet the team’ page comes our mini blog series. Each week, hear personally from our team members about their roles at JUMP and more. This week, meet Jonathan...
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Newcastle United fan, technology geek, coffee addict and crazy about French Bulldogs.
Summarise your role at JUMP
As a member of JUMP’s development team, I am involved with both front and back end development. This can either be working solely on projects or working as part of a team on a larger scale.
What got you into web development?
I have always been a technology nerd since a very young age, from using computers to taking them apart. When the opportunity arose to try web development I took it with both hands and instantly loved it.
Describe the project you have worked on that you are proudest of. What did you do that worked out particularly well?
I would say one of my proudest projects was completing my first CMS website. When I first started at JUMP, I had only ever created the front end of websites. It was pleasing to complete all development aspects and see the project go live knowing that I did it.
What do you hope to achieve at JUMP?
To continue to push and constantly challenge myself, as well as to learn from the JUMP team. I feel this is the best approach to improve my skillset and ultimately help the company.
What do you like most about web development/being a web developer?
I enjoy learning new things every day, which is something you can’t avoid in this industry. It is constantly changing and nothing is the same for too long. I take satisfaction in knowing that people use the websites I have created.
Finally, what advice would you give to any junior developers starting out?
Google is your best friend... seriously, we all have those moments when we are stumped or find something difficult. It is all part of the learning process and there is no such thing as a silly question.
