The Peace of Paper
"The Peace of Paper" is a creative writing project developed by members of The New Creatives, a writing group based at The Literary & Philosophical Society (Lit & Phil) library, Newcastle. The project is funded by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and has been supported by the North of England Refugee Service as well as the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Comprising of local students and refugees, the group explored the themes of conflict and resolution, drawing on their personal experiences to produce poetry and prose. JUMP was commissioned to produce a comprehensive anthology of the group’s work, as well as an accompanying teacher's pack and microsite. With accessibility in mind, we chose an illustrative approach, playing on the paper theme to create an engaging and vibrant suite of work. The teacher's pack and microsite have been designed for interactive classroom use with KS3 students. As well as lesson notes, JUMP produced a series of worksheets and audio samples which are all available on the branded website.
