Tell us a bit about yourself

I moved to the region in 1989 to go to Newcastle University and save two short excursions to Edinburgh and Liverpool I have remained here ever since. I absolutely adore the region and have no plans to leave, unless we open JUMP New York. I live in Cullercoats and I am a Trustee of two charities, Dementia Matters and NE Youth, both driven from a personal perspective. I sadly can’t boast any crazy hobbies, I am music-mad, football mad and love nothing better than an afternoon in the pub. If that follows a walk up a Lakeland mountain, so much the better, but it is not essential.

Summarise your role at JUMP

I’m the big lad down the corridor who does sales. Which deconstructed is driving revenue growth, pricing, profitability, business development, customer acquisition, and retention and the exploration of new markets and business opportunities. 

What got you into the creative sector? 

I met Lucy in my previous life, recruitment, and it was love at first sight. I was smitten with her quirkiness, drive, ambition, and creativity and from the beginning, I decided I wanted to work with her and Rob. Essentially, I have had to bide my time before sliding into her DMs to shout “gizza job” which she eventually did.

Describe the project you've worked on that you're proudest of. What did you do that worked out particularly well?

I can’t say too much, but in my previous life, I hired three of the five directors who presented a final business plan to the Bank of England late last year who will launch a new bank in 2021. At JUMP, I already know it will be constructing a single CRM tool that pulls all the information together that we currently keep in 10,745 different places, including Xero, Lucy’s head, and the kitchen cupboards.

What do you hope to achieve at JUMP?

I want to help the board, SMT and wonderful team here at JUMP build us into the preferred destination of any ambitious brand who places a tangible fiscal value on design and creativity.

What do you like most about your role?

Meeting people and building business relationships that turn into personal friendships. You know you’ve done a great job if a client will introduce you to their nan.

Finally, what advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?

Quickly learn the lingo, it’s harder than learning to speak Russian!
