Meet the team:
Andrew Baxter, Head of Design

Following the introduction of our ‘Meet the team’ page comes the launch of our mini blog series. Each week, hear personally from each of our team members about their roles at JUMP and more. First up, meet Andrew…

Tell us a bit about yourself

I have a wife, two kids and a keen interest in running mountain marathons for fun. I guess that means I have a screw loose.

Summarise your role at JUMP

As JUMP’s Head of Design, I am responsible for managing the design team and ensuring work is planned in, designed and delivered on time and within budget whilst also ensuring creative flair is at the forefront of everything we do.

How did you get into graphic design?

I always had an interest in art and design from drawing to creating models. I started off working at an architect’s firm building scale models and housing. This has helped me massively in my career progression as I feel collaboration is the best route to a creative solution.

Describe a project you've worked on. What did you do that went well?

My role at JUMP means that I am involved in most of the projects we work on. What makes me proud is seeing the design team get recognition from clients who truly appreciate and understand what they have crafted.

What do you hope to achieve at JUMP?

Creative Director! Only joking, Lucy. I hope to continue supporting the team to help us as an organisation produce well thought-out design.

What do you like most about graphic and web design?

I really like that no one day is the same. Being involved in this industry means you are constantly evolving and developing. New challenges and opportunities come around and responding to those is incredibly rewarding.

Finally, what advice would you give to any junior designers starting out?

Intelligence. Know your opinions and don’t be afraid to challenge what you see every day.
